All About Stress Fracture
A stress fracture is known as a small or tiny crack in a bone. Basically, these stress fractures are caused by repetitive action or movement such as running for very long distances or jumping up and down. These are found in runners and athletes who are related to soccer and basketball. Well, it is most common in the weight-bearing bones of the lower leg and foot. Therefore, people can suffer stress fractures if they carry heavy weights for long distances or if anyone starts a new workout exercise programme.
Symptoms
Well, the symptoms can be suffering from pain in the foot and ankle. Initially, you might not be able to notice the pain, but it gets worse and tend to swell with time.

Causes
The specific problem of stress fracture may arise due to an increase in activity and doing it too fast. Our bones can adapt increased loads, but it can do so gradually. This is known as remodelling. During this process, the bones tissues get destroyed and then it gets rebuilt again. However, there are circumstances when it doesn’t get adequate time to recover. Then the bones can have stress fractures due to lack of time to rebuild or recover.
Factors that can increase the injury of stress fractures
· Certain sports.
People who are athletes or a sportsperson and those who like to participate in sports like basketball, tennis, football, track and fields, gymnastics or dance can easily suffer from stress fractures.
· Increased activity.
If suddenly you jump to an active life from an inactive lifestyle, then it can happen. Also, if you rapidly increase the intensity, then you may suffer from a stress fracture.
· Women problem.
Those women who are suffering from the abnormal period problem can suffer from a stress fracture.
· Foot problem.
People with flat feet or high inflexible curves can suffer from stress fractures. Damaged footwear can be one of the reasons behind stress fracture.
· Weak bones.
People who are suffering from conditions like osteoporosis can suffer from stress fractures. In this case, it deteriorates your bones, and this can lead to stress fractures.
· Lack of nutrients.
People need to have proper vitamin D and calcium-rich foods. It makes bones stronger. If you do not take all these nutrients, then there is a higher chance of developing stress fractures.
Prevention
1. Make changes slowly.
It is essential to start any new activity or workout programme slowly and steadily. However, this can prevent stress fracture.
2. Use proper footwear.
You must always take care of your shoes. It must fit well and are comfortable for daily activity. Do you have a flat foot? Well, you must consult your doctor and ask about arch cares for your shoes.
3. Nutrients are a must.
If you intend to be free from stress fractures, then you must intake vitamin D, calcium, and other vital nutrients on a daily basis.
