Treatment Psychogenic pain – ETHOS HEALTH CARE
Psychogenic pain is a pain disorder associated with psychological factors. While psychogenic pain is primarily psychological, it is a very real type of chronic pain. It is also called psychalgia. It may occur, rarely, in persons with a mental disorder, but more commonly it accompanies or is induced by social rejection, broken heart, grief, love sickness, or other such emotional events. A person with a psychogenic pain disorder may complain of pain that does not match his or her symptoms.
In psychological pain, the intensity or proportion of pain is greater than the injury. Some chronic ailments are related to this type of pain. People with depression and anxiety may report psychogenic pain all over their bodies, even when there is no apparent physical cause.
