Addiction Treatment – ETHOS HEALTH CARE
An addiction Treatment is an obsessive, uncontrollable and often damaging attachment to an activity, behaviour or substance. Hypnosis can be an effective tool in the early stages of addiction as well as in the recovery process. It’s important to understand that hypnosis is not a cure-all for addiction, but it can definitely serve a role in a comprehensive course of treatment. It’s particularly useful in helping recovered alcoholics stay on the right track.
Hypnotherapy aims to get to the route of the addiction by inducing a state of heightened awareness in the patient. In this relaxed and open state, the patient becomes more susceptible to suggestion, which the hypnotherapist can take advantage of by talking over different ideas about the substance or activity the patient is addicted to.
When a person is under hypnosis, a hypnotist can directly communicate with their subconscious mind bypassing the conscious or critical mind that would question the validity of a particular suggestion. a good hypnotist will neutralize or help eliminate the root cause and then give direct suggestions to create images that become permanently anchored within the subconscious mind.
Hypnotherapy can be useful during the post withdrawal phase of treatment. The hardest part of recovery is often staying off of the drugs after the initial treatment period and hypnotherapy can be used to reinforce positive changes to break the addiction. Hypnotherapy can also help an individual to learn new behavioural responses to live without the addiction.
