Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine which is based on acupuncture concept and it involves placing physical pressure by hand, elbow or with the aid of other devices on different acupuncture points on the surface of the body.
One of the effective ways to treat hypertension is acupressure. it is useful as a Complementary therapy in managing hypertension. Acupressure helps get relief and cure for the blood pressure. As the acupressure is applied to the points which may be the cause of hypertension, you get relief from high blood pressure. There are many acupoints which can be treated to take control of hypertension. Some of the helpful pressure points are discussed below:
- One is located under the base of skull either side of the top of the spine.
- The second is in the hollow directly under the protruding ankle bone on each foot, about one-third of the distance between the anklebone and the bottom of the heal
- The third point is directly below the inside of the anklebone. One needs to press and release the point using your thumb 15 times in the morning and 15 times in the evening. This point is useful for strengthening the immune system.
- Another point is at the top of the head at the center of an imaginary line from ear to ear. Pressing and massaging the points will help to refresh and center the spirit and strengthen the memory, concentration and depression.
Working on these points can help you get better quicker. Using just one or two of them whenever you have a free hand can be effective. It’s important to drink plenty of warm water after the massage, helps to clear away toxic substances in our body.
